Halloween 2004

Oct. 14 Oct. 22 Oct. 25 Oct. 26 Oct. 28 Oct. 30 Oct. 31 Nov. 2 Nov. 8

I've been meaning to get to this for awhile now. I wanted to mention I've been getting things for Halloween for the past few weeks or so. I got a ceramic ghost with a jack-o-lantern bobblehead, which I bought at the Giant Eagle in Chagrin Falls. Apparently the thing is made by Far East Brokers, though their site doesn't have a picture of it. But hey, I have a picture I took with my crappy gameboy advance camera, and now it's floating around in here! (Though I can't seem to get javascript to work on mozilla, it works fine on explorer.) I have a fiber optic jack-o-lantern I bought at K-mart (I was thinking of getting a string of ghost lights there, but the package advised to wash hands after handling, cuz the cord has lead on it. wtf?), and a jack-o-lantern sippee cup style o' fing (made by fun world, though their site doesn't even have a page for this kind of product), which I bought at Tops; I got a few things at Marc's: a skull bubble light (made by Hofert's, whatever that is), a skeleton candle holder (made by Ganz, though I can't find a pic on their site), and a flying bat thing (made by Fitco). I've also recently gotten some dvds which might be worth watching around the holiday, the special edition of Lost Boys, and Casper, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie), and today a couple of Emily the Strange books I ordered arrived... I wish they were longer. I wish something actually happened in them, but whatever, they're still cool, and someday I should get some more Emily stuff. I'm trying to think what else... My sister has a pumpkin in her bedroom which she carved a cross into. I enjoy that on an ironic level, though I'm sure her reasons were more... straightforward. Anyway, I have plans for other things to get, I think, closer to the big nights. Mostly alcohol. Um... I can't think what else to say right now. More some other day.... Okay, I'm editing this Oct. 18 because I wanted to say I forgot to say that I also got a jar awhile back which is Halloweeny. Plus a dvd of a few Vincent Price movies, although I still need to get The Raven sometime. It's on my Amazon wish list....

Oct. 22

Let's see. Today I happened to catch part of Hamtaro's Halloween special on Cartoon Network, which was followed by Atomic Betty's Halloween special. Man, that show... just isn't as good as I hoped it'd be. Whatever, at least Hamtaro was kinda fun. Oh, and I guess I forgot to mention before that I got some sour apple Bubblicious. I had such gum one year in high school when I went to see this guy do some scary stories for Halloween. It was cool. So the gum reminds me of that. Can't remember if I gave a piece to this other kid or this other kid gave a piece to me. Whatever. Um... Hey, I bought some berry scary Scooby-berry pop-tarts today. Oh, and tonight's episode of Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends was sort of Halloweenish, in a way. Sort of. Ah yes, and I got this star light keychain from JFL Enterprises at Medic drugstore today. Not really Halloweeny, I've been meaning to get one of these since we moved here this summer. But it's cool. I never could choose a color, but I finally chose a green one. It's got this sort of strobing multi-colored light inside. Well, I think that's all I had to say for now...

Oct. 25

Okay, yesterday I got some Slo Poke caramel candies. And I tried to watch this "Entertainment Weekly's 20 Scariest Movies" thing on AMC. It was hosted by Bruce Campbell. But I soon got sick of it and quit watching. Also I found out that my cousins' party will be on Saturday instead of Sunday, so I probably won't be able to make it, which is a shame. Dunno if there's anything else to say right now. But hey, the day's getting closer fast....

Oct. 26

Today I bought some Pitch Black Mountain Dew, and a Mannheim Steamroller Halloween CD. And my sister and I got a package from Mom including plush Halloween cats for each of us, and some things with candy in them, sippee cup type things (Beth got a jack-o-lantern and I got a black cat head), and Beth got a Snoopy thing and I got a thing with candy that's like sort of little hat-box looking things with jack-o-lantern designs. Also I bought some candy, caramel apple pops and Halloween m&m's. I think that's about it for now....

Update, after work. I bought some more things. A pumpkin roll, y'know, a cakey sorta thing with cream cheese. Can't wait to try that. Also peanuts, kettle corn, and turtle caramel apples.

Update, later. I just read an article at Gorilla Pirate. It's funny, as are all articles at Gorilla Pirate. And it's about Halloween. So go read it, if you haven't already. ...Oh, and I made a comic. Been meaning to get to that. Need to make at least one more, for Halloween... So I best not forget!

Oct. 28

Went to Tops today, got a sort of Muppety looking witch thing I've been meaning to get for awhile now (made by "Spooky Place," for which I cannot find a website). It's all furry. There were a few different colors, purple, orange, green... I got a purple one. It cackles just like a skeleton I got years ago, which I call Mr. Bone Jangles. The difference, I have discovered, is that my skeleton runs on a couple AA batteries I can remove, and also has an off switch. This witch thing has its sound box inside a leg, so it's not accessible. It has no off switch, and presumably once the batteries run out, it's out forever. Unless I decide to do some surgery.... Whatever. It's still cool. I need to think of a name for it. Also I got an orange and a green glow stick (from Monster Glow, which I don't think I've ever heard of before). I've always liked glow sticks, since I was a little kid, so these should be good, even if they're not the brand I'm used to. Also, I had seen some gummi candy corn at my store this year, stuff I don't remember seeing before. But when I was thinking of getting some the other day, it was gone. So I got some today at Tops. Now I think all that is left to get for Halloween is the alcohol....

Update: I have fixed up The Deepest Inner Mind a bit, which is the board that belongs to Mind, the demon who tries to possess me. Even though the board hasn't been active for a couple years. But if anyone wants to go there, they can...

Oct. 30

Okay, I'm actually writing this entry on Oct. 31, but don't worry, I'll also write stuff under this date's heading after writing yesterday's. Actually I wanted to say some old things like we got monster cereals a few weeks ago. They're still here, take awhile to go through them. I saved Boo berry till yesterday though Beth had some earlier. It's always been my favorite monster cereal, though this year it tastes sort of... off. Not bad, just not like it should be, and I don't like it as much. Maybe the others are off too. Hmmm. What else? Watched my regular cartoons yetserday morning. The Batman introduced Man-Bat, which I guess is sort of appropriate for Halloween, though Scarecrow probably woulda been appropriater. Interspersed with my shows I watched a couple things on tape. Probably nothing worth mentioning. Yesterday afternoon I watched Halloweentown High, the third TV movie in the series. It was alright. I keep meaning to start a page in my tv reference section for Halloween TV movies, dunno when I'll get to that. And I had some mini chimichangas (from Jose Olé). At 8pm I taped my regular cartoons and watched The Hollow, which wasn't bad I guess. And I tried putting my flying bat on the ceiling. It wouldn't screw in because our ceiling is not very screwy. But it had a sticky pad I could use instead. The bat's cool, but it won't stick for long. And I tried my skull bubble light, but it's kinda boring, plus it was purple, though the picture on the box is green, dammit. Also I tried my Nosferatu beer (from Great Lakes Brewing Company). It kicked so much ass, I can't even tell you. One of the richest tasting beers I've ever tried, plus it was 8% alcohol. And then... I went to bed, because I had to work in the morning. And right now that's all I can think to say, though I'm sure I'm forgetting things, maybe about Saturday and maybe about earlier in the week....

Oct. 31

Today I worked. Yesterday I bought a can of Monster Energy to drink today, which I did. After work I tried a couple bottles of raspberry hard cider (from Woodchuck). And caught up on stuff I taped last night and this morning. Not everything, but most of it. And now I'm internetting and listening to my Mannheim Steamroller cd which is pretty cool, though soon I'll have to watch some TV. Regular stuff. After that maybe a DVD, and Vampire wine. This year I'm trying the pinot grigio. And there's cider left, and one bottle of Nosferatu. And I don't have to work tomorrow till 4, so I should stay up late. Oh, and I thought I oughta get around to naming a couple things. I decided to call my plush cat Mad Marv Caliwinks, and my purple furry witch thing Dr. Koozbaniac. I guess that's all to say for now....

Update: Go to the comic link from the other day. I just made some more comix for Halloween, so check them out...

Update: It's Nov. 1 now, just wanted to say that last night I watched my dvd of Lost Boys while drinking wine from my pumpkin cup. Sippee cup. Um, is that the right word I've been using? I mean, a cup with a straw, but... maybe it means something else. I dunno. Whatever, I didn't finish my wine, I'm going to maybe do that soon. Before work, yes. There's not much left in the bottle. It was a fun movie. Thought I might watch some more stuff, but I went to sleep instead. On the couch. That's about all....

Nov. 2

Okay. Yesterday the Garfield DVD my sister ordered with 3 holiday specials arrived. She watched the Halloween one last night while I was at work, and I watched it today. Pretty cool. There's Thanksgiving to watch later this month, and Christmas next month, so that'll be fun, too. Y'know what? I haven't used the glow sticks I got. Can't think what else to say right now, but I may update throughout the week. Possibly. Oh yeah, and I was gonna maybe use some leftover bang snaps from the 4th of July, but I didn't. Sigh.

Nov. 8

Yesterday I had a Monster Assault energy drink at work, which I had bought a few days earlier, just because I'd never seen it before. Basically just Monster energy with a grey camoflage can, dunno if the drink itself was any different. It was okay though. But at the end of the day I went to get it out of the fridge in the break room and it was gone. Ooh, scary! Well, not so much scary as off-pissing. But whatever. Then last night I taped Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XV, and I watched it today. It was actually pretty good, I was pleasantly surprised. I especially liked the use of the Perfect Strangers theme music. And Kang and Kodos showed up several times. And that should be the end of the Halloween season, though I really need to watch that damned Vincent Price DVD, and if I do, I'll probably want to talk about it here....
