Calendar Year / Disney Fairies gallery

About this gallery:

So... you know, I've had plenty of different calendars over the course of the years, though I suppose there are plenty of them that I haven't kept. I remember one year, must've been mid-90s, I had an Elle MacPherson calendar which was very... *ahem*, but nevermind that. After the year was over, I tried to sell it in a yard sale or something, but never did. And it got left in the garage, and eventually the elements (which had a nasty habit of finding their way into the garage) ruined it. It's most likely been thrown out long since, and even if it was possible to find it, it certainly wouldn't be worth scanning. Sadly.

And then there are other calendars I simply haven't kept because... I didn't find them worth keeping. But I've kept some. There's a "Batman: The Villains of Gotham City" calendar from 2001, though I've recently decided I don't need to keep it, after all... so if anyone's interested in buying it, let me know. (At least I've scanned the cover to use as the default image in this gallery.) There are also a few "Ladies of Anime" calendars (2003-05). I'll get around to scanning them eventually. But so far the only calendars I've scanned are from the year 2007 onward (sadly, I no longer have whatever calendar I used in 06; probably a Coke calendar, but I may well get another one of those, one of these years). Meanwhile, my calendars for most years, starting in 07, are of "Tinker Bell," though 2010 was "Star Wars." (I should perhaps mention that some images in the Tinker Bell calendars are duplicated in different years, though there tends to be some differences in background and even to some degree the look of Tink herself, despite being essentially the same image... it's just rendered differently. I dunno how to 'splain it, you look for yourself, 'kay?) As for calendar covers, I'll only include them here if the image used is not used in any other months that year (or if there is some significant difference between the appearance of the image on the cover and on the month).

Anyway, images from the Tinker Bell calendars were originally in my Disney Fairies gallery (and some of the images used in the calendars may still appear in that gallery, from sources other than calendars), and the anime girls ones were in my "random anime gallery" (which no longer exists). But one day, probably in January 2009, I was browsing in Hot Topic, and saw a fairies calendar (of a decidedly un-Disney nature), and while I kinda wanted it, and yet didn't get it, I believe it was at that point that it suddenly occurred to me to start a gallery on my site specifically for calendars. (Hopefully one of these years I will get the kind of fairies calendar they sell in places like Hot Topic, though. We'll see.) So, I moved some images from Disney Fairies gallery, as well as doing some more scanning. And while I initially only had Tink pics here, the point of making this calendars gallery is that I could include anything here. Doesn't have to be about animated girls. (Though there probably won't be any calendars of real women here; if I'm going to objectify females, I prefer them to be of the imaginary variety. Still, if I still had that old Elle MacPherson calendar, I'd totally scan it for this gallery.) But aside from animated girls, it's also possible to have calendars that have nothing to do with girls at all, real or imaginary. I do have lots of other interests, like Star Wars, for example (though I'll admit a big draw for buying that 2010 calendar was the pic of Leia on the August page). Some years I have received Christmas gifts of calendars photographs of places around Aroostook County, Maine. (I always meant to scan those, but never did, and probably never will. I don't think I even have them anymore, but if I get another one sometime, I might scan it. We'll see.) For a few years now, I've also been considering getting a calendar with pictures of Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints); hopefully I'll eventually do that. And I've already mentioned a desire to get another Coca-Cola calendar someday (particularly one with old-fashioned pin-up girl art, as they used to use in their advertising, decades ago). But... whatever, there's really no limit to what kind of calendars I might get in the years to come....
