This is a horror-comedy, but I found very little of it actually funny. I think it works best when it's being more serious about the disappointments in the lives of the characters. And the horror aspect is reasonably good, but not great.

So, there's a divorced dad named Ken (Devon Sawa), who works at a toy store. He has to work overnight on Thanksgiving / Black Friday, along with coworkers Marnie (with whom he is vaguely involved romantically), germaphobic Chris, Archie, Ruth, Anita, new guy Emmett, and Brian (who I think is like assistant manager, or something). The manager, Jonathan (Bruce Campbell), is at first only seen briefly, addressing his employees via the PA system. There are also small alien blobs, which have been raining down on Earth in a meteor shower, unbeknownst to anyone. One of them landed in the toy store, and starts infecting customers, turning them into monsters. Emmett is also infected early on. Soon, the remaining employees, as well as Jonathan, have to deal with a horde of rampaging monsters. Mostly this means hiding out. We get to know a bit about their lives, and what they think of each other.

That's all I want to say about the plot. I found some of the characters interesting enough. And the story was okay. It's not a particularly good movie, but I'd also say it's not bad at all. I found it sufficiently entertaining for its runtime of a little under an hour and a half, but it's not likely to be super memorable.
