This is the third direct-to-video sequel to "Tremors", or rather, it's a prequel. It came out in 2004, but I didn't see it until 2022. I ended up rating it higher than I did any of the first three movies, but I'm not really sure if I liked it more than the first two (I certainly liked it more than the third movie), or if the higher rating is just on account of my ability to appreciate movies differing from time to time. At any rate, I thought it was fairly good.

It's set in 1889, in a small Nevada mining town called Rejection (which will be renamed Perfection, at the end of the movie). When baby graboids (or as they're called in this movie, Dirt Dragons) hatch and then kill a bunch of miners, the remaining miners quit, and most of the people who lived in Rejection move away. The remaining townsfolk include hotel owner Christine Lord (Sara Botsford), a miner and aspiring rancher named Juan, a Native American named Tecopa, a couple of Chinese immigrants named Pyong Lien Chang and Lu Wan Chang and their young son, Fu Yien. I think that's all the important characters. The silver mine's owner, Hiram Gummer (an ancestor of Burt Gummer, from the other movies, who like Burt, is played by Michael Gross), comes to Rejection (from Philadelphia) to get the mine operating again. To that end, he puts out an ad for a gunfighter, to kill the Dirt Dragons. The ad is answered by Black Hand Kelly (Billy Drago, who looked familiar to me but I couldn't place him. Checking his credits, I guess I knew him from Brisco County, Jr.) Eventually, all the townsfolk I've mentioned have to work together to kill the Dirt Dragons.

That's all I want to say about the plot, except that it was amusing to see an ancestor of Burt's be so totally different from Burt, particularly his poor performance with guns. But I'm sure he'll get better with practice. I wish I could think of more to say about the movie. I just liked it.
