Caution: potenial spoilers.

This came out in 2016, but I didn't see it until 2025. So far it's my second favorite movie in the DCAMU, after "The Flashpoint Paradox". But I've enjoyed all the movies in the series that I've seen so far, to some degree. I think it's worth noting that Council of Geeks usually disparages these movies, but this one they actually said was good. So for once we're on the same page.

The movie begins with Batwoman, aka Kate Kane, fighting a group of villains, led by someone we later learn is called Heretic. Batman shows up and helps in the fight, wanting Batwoman to leave. In the end, Heretic blows up the building, and Batman is presumed dead. When Damian, who is in the Himalayas, learns that Batman has disappeared, he returns to Gotham. And Alfred calls in Nightwing, who temporarily assumes the mantle of Batman. Later, Heretic's group attack Wayne Enterprises, forcing Lucius Fox to open a secret vault of Batman's weaponry, by threatening to kill his son, Luke. After they get what they want, Heretic stabs Lucius, who barely survives. Later, Luke acquires a flying Bat-suit and calls himself Batwing. (I hoped someone would mention that that's already the name of Batman's plane, and they eventually did.)

We eventually learn that Heretic is working for Talia al Ghul, and that they have captured Batman. They've also forced Mad Hatter to mess with his memories, or whatever, in order to turn him to Talia's side. She also has a larger plan to brainwash a group of world leaders into serving the League of Shaows. Eventually, Nightwing, Batwoman, Robin, and Batwing all have to fight Talia's group of villains, as well as Batman himself. Even Alfred gets in on the action. And in the end, Nightwing manages to break through Batman's brainwashing, so he rejoins the heroes' side.

Well, I don't think I've spoiled too many details. Well, not all of them. There are definitely some important things I'm leaving out. Some characters die, including the Mad Hatter (in a gruesome fashion). And some characters appear to die, though that's not necessarily a a certainty. And I guess I should say that Kate Kane begins dating Renee Montoya (who presumably doesn't know Kate is Batwoman), though that's a minor plot point (which I could imagine becoming more important later on.) I also want to mention that Batgirl appears at the end of the movie, but she doesn't say anything and it's unclear what she's going to do. Anyway, the whole movie is pretty dark, and serious, and action-packed, and interesting, and... I don't know what else to say. It was just really good.
