This is a based on a ride at Disney theme parks, none of which I've ever been to. In 1556, Spanish conquistadors, led by Don Aguirre, search the Amazon for a legendary tree whose petals (called "Tears of the Moon") can heal anything. They don't find it, and all of them nearly die in the quest. But they're healed by a tribe called Puka Michuna, who know where the tree is. However, when the tribe refuses to share its location, the conquistadors kill them. The tribe's chief puts a curse on them so that the conquistadors could never leave sight of the river, and never die. And apparently they turn to stone.

In 1916, a man named MacGregor Houghton gives a lecture about the Tears of the Moon to an organization that scoffs at the legend. The research he presented was actually that of his sister, Lily (Emily Blunt), but women aren't allowed to address the organization. While MacGregor keeps them occupied, Emily sneaks into their archives to steal an arrowhead she believes will lead her to the tree. At the same time, a German prince named Joachim comes to the archives to buy the arrowhead, as he believes the Tears of the Moon would give his country an advantage in World War I. Emily barely escapes with the arrowhead, and she and MacGregor travel to the Amazon to find the tree. They hire a riverboat captain named Frank Wolff (Dwayne Johnson) to guide them on the Amazon River. Meanwhile, Prince Joachim chases them in a submarine.

And that is all I want to say about the plot. It's a grand adventure, and the movie has plenty of humor (including Frank's penchant for bad jokes, which are fun). And the story has a neat surprise at one point. And... I don't really know what else to say. I just thought it was a really fun movie, in a lot of ways.
