This came out in 1991, and I must have first seen it sometime in the 90s. I didn't like it. But my sister is a fan of the movie, and for years she tried to get our cousins to watch it with her. When they finally did in 2021, I watched it too, and I liked it more than I remembered... but still not much.
The titular character is Bob Wiley, who has a plethora of phobias. He's gone through many psychiatrists, the most recent of whom pawns him off on Dr. Leo Marvin (Richard Dreyfuss), right before Leo goes on vacation with his family. Bob uses subterfuge to find out where they're staying, and follows them there. This is of course highly inappropriate, and understandably upsets Leo. But Bob just won't leave. The longer he's around, the more desperate Leo becomes to get rid of him. Unfortunately for Leo, his family takes a liking to Bob. I suppose I should say that Leo's not a very nice guy, but ever since I first saw the movie I felt bad for him having to deal with someone as clingy as Bob, who remains oblivious to his effect on Leo's nerves. I still feel bad for Leo, but I guess I found it a bit funnier and not as off-putting as I did the first time. It could be that watching the movie with the fam helped improve my opinion of the movie. And I don't know what else to say about it.
