This is a sequel to The Croods. It begins with a flashback of Guy's parents sinking in a tar pit, knowing they're going to die. Pretty dark, right? They tell him to go and find his tomorrow. Then we see a series of moments from throughout his youth as he journeys, looking for tomorrow.
In the "present", sometime after the first movie, Guy and Eep are acting all lovey-dovey, to the annoyance of Grug, who worries about the pack possibly breaking up if the two of them go off to start their own pack. Then one day Grug discovers a giant wall, and crashes through it to find a garden full of fruits, which everyone enjoys. It turns out that the garden belongs to the Bettermans: Phil (Peter Dinklage), his wife Hope (Leslie Mann), and their daughter, Dawn (Kelly Marie Tran). It turns out they were best friends with Guy's parents, and he and Dawn used to play together as children. The Bettermans invite Guy and the Croods into their home in a very large tree, which is full of all sorts of inventions of Phil's that make life easier. Unlike the rest of his pack, Grug doesn't like it there, especially because of Phil's rule of not eating any of the bananas that they grow there. Eep and Dawn quickly become best friends, so it's really nice to see that the movie's drama won't come from them fighting over Guy. Unfortunately, Dawn's parents plot to have Guy stay there and become Dawn's mate (which Guy doesn't even know about, and wouldn't want, because he's in love with Eep). They also want the Croods to leave, believing the cave people don't belong with more modern people. Grug would be happy to leave, and eventually Eep gets into a fight with Guy about him wanting to stay there and her wanting to leave with her pack. So there's some drama there. But more drama arises when Phil, Grug, and Guy get captured by a tribe of "punch monkeys", who intend to sacrifice them to a monster, for a reason having to do with bananas. So, the women and girls must come to rescue them.
So, that's the main plot of the movie. I've left out tons of details, of course. And of course, there is a happy ending for everyone, as they all learn to get along, and Eep and Guy renew their romance when Guy realizes she is his "tomorrow". There are lots of fun and amusing bits to the story, in addition to the drama. And I don't know what else to say.
The movies is followed by a web series called The Croods: Family Tree.
