Caution: spoilers.

This is the first sequel to A Nightmare on Elm Street. On the whole, I'd say the first film was probably better. In other ways, I thought this one was decent... I mean, we really get a pretty clear sense of Freddy as a character, probably more than we did in the first movie. (And as a side note, this was clearly the movie that inspired the DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince song that I mentioned in my review of the previous movie.) But I think aside from Freddy, the characters in this movie weren't as good as in the first one.

So, anyway, it's set five years after the first movie. There's a teenager named Jesse Walsh who has just moved into the house where Nancy Thompson lived in the first movie, along with his parents and little sister. And there's a girl named Lisa Webber, who at first is just someone Jesse gives a ride to school every day, though somewhere along the line it seems like she becomes his girlfriend, without either of them actually discussing it, or anything. And there's a guy named Grady, who at first seems like Jesse's nemesis or something, but then suddenly they're friends. I dunno, all this was confusing to me. Meanwhile, Jesse keeps having nightmares about Freddy Krueger, starting before he even learns about what happened to Nancy five years ago. (Lisa finds Nancy's diary in Jesse's closet.) And a number of times throughout the film, Freddy manages to take over Jesse's body, to kill various people in the real world. (Like, we see him as Freddy, not as Jesse, when this is going on.) But Jesse always reverts to himself and is horrified by what he's done. So he doesn't want to go to sleep anymore, and naturally sleep deprivation starts to wear on his nerves and stuff. But Lisa does her best to help Jesse get through all this, and encourages him to fight back against Freddy for control of his body. It's all pretty weird. But I thought the movie was basically okay. And... I hope I'm not forgetting anything I wanted to say.
