This is the seventh direct-to-video Scooby-Doo movie. It came out in 2004, but I didn't see it until 2025. It's the first film in which Mindy Cohn voices Velma, and the second in which Grey DeLisle voices Daphne (after the fourth movie in the series, Scooby-Doo and The Cyber Chase). Fred and Scooby continue being voiced by Frank Welker, and Shaggy by Casey Kasem. It is the same voice cast as the 2002-2006 TV series "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" (which I might have seen a very little bit of, or not, I forget).
The Mystery, Inc. gang head to Scotland to visit Daphne's cousin, Shannon Blake (also voiced by DeLisle), who lives in a castle next to Loch Ness. Shannon is overseeing the preparations for the upcoming Highland Games, which will be held near Blake Castle. Also staying at the castle is Professor Fiona Pembrooke (Sheena Easton), who is trying to prove the existence of the Loch Ness Monster. She has a rival named Sir Ian Locksley (Jeff Bennett), who is a skeptic, and will be a judge at the games. For awhile now, ever since preparations for the games began, the monster has apparently been terrorizing locals, and of course the Mystery, Inc. gang want to investigate (aside from Shaggy and Scooby, who are scared, as always). The gang also meet a sort of hippie named Del Chillman (Bennett), who wants to see the Loch Ness Monster. And there are a couple of competitors in the games named Colin and Angus Haggart (John DiMaggio and Phil Lamarr, respectively), and their father, Lachlan (Welker).
I guess I don't want to spoil any details of the investigation into the mystery of the monster, or how it all ends. I will say that I found a lot of the dialogue cheesy (as usual for these movies), but some of it was okay. And I think the story improved as it progressed. It's not a great movie, but it definitely had some interesting bits. And some good background songs. Overall, I think it was a reasonably enjoyable watch, and an average entry in the franchise.
