Disney animated shorts - other stuff

This is where I'll list any shorts I've seen that I don't like well enough to give their own pages, but well enough that I thought they were at least worth mentioning.

Bath Day (6:38)
Disney Wiki; IMDb

This came out in 1946. I have no idea whether I saw it before I watched it on DVD in 2024. It's the 9th short film on "Mickey & Minnie: 10 Classic Shorts". The one right before it, "Figaro and Frankie", like this one, starred Minnie's pet kitten, Figaro, but I didn't like that one enough to review it here. And I was on the fence about whether to review this one, but obviously I decided I might as well. (There are probably better Figaro shorts that I either haven't seen or don't remember.) Anyway, Minnie gives Figaro a bath, which he doesn't like, and then puts a bow on him, which he likes even less. He goes outside and gets into a fight with a much larger alley cat who makes fun of him, while other cats watch and laugh at Figaro. But there's a twist ending, which I kind of liked. And I don't know what else to tell you.

The Little Whirlwind (8:30)
Disney Wiki; IMDb; Wikipedia
streaming sites: Disney+

This came out in 1941. I don't remember if I saw it when I was a kid or not, but I watched it on DVD in 2024. Minnie Mouse has just baked a cake and sets it on her windowsill to cool. Its aroma attracts Mickey Mouse, who offers to clean up Minnie's yard in exchange for a piece of cake. Unfortunately for him, a little whirlwind comes along and thwarts his attempts to rake leaves. I don't want to spoil any more details of the short, but it has some reasonably amusing bits.

Mickey's Delayed Date (6:39)
Disney Wiki; IMDb; Wikipedia
streaming sites: Disney+

This came out in 1947. When I watched it on DVD in 2024, it rang all sorts of bells, so I had definitely seen it many years ago. But if it hadn't been on the DVD, I might never have remembered it. Anyway, Minnie calls up Mickey, who is sleeping on his recliner, to remind him about their date. So he takes a bath, while instructing Pluto to put his clothes on the bed. Things go badly for him on his way to the dance hall where Minnie's waiting for him, but it all turns out well in the end. It wasn't super funny, but it was an okay short.

Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip (7:39)
Disney Wiki; IMDb; Wikipedia
streaming sites: Disney+

This came out in 1940. When I watched it on DVD in 2024, it wasn't at all familiar to me. And I considered not even mentioning it here, because I liked it less than any of the shorts I had already put on this page. It had some bits I found kind of amusing I guess, but also some bits I was totally neutral toward, and some bits I kind of disliked. Anyway, Mickey goes on a train trip with Pluto, or at least tries to. But the conductor (played here by Mickey's frequent nemesis, Pete) throws them off the train, because dogs aren't allowed. Still, Mickey and Pluto manage to sneak back onto the train, and when they're found by Pete, make a series of attempts to avoid capture. That's pretty much all there is to it.

On Ice (8:03)
Disney Wiki; IMDb; Wikipedia
streaming sites: Disney+

This came out in 1935. I have no memory of having seen it prior to watching it on DVD in 2024, but I suppose I might have seen it at some point in my youth. Mickey and his friends go ice skating, and Mickey shows off his skills for Minnie. Then Goofy goes ice fishing, and his method of trying to catch fish, despite being a complete failure, is my favorite part of the short, the only part that I really found funny. Then we see Donald skating by himself, and stopping to prank Pluto, which Donald finds hilarious, but I just found mean. And some more stuff happens, but I don't feel the need to go into more details.
