short films I want to see:
animated * anthology * CGI * Christmas * comix * drama & dramedy * fantasy * horror * sci-fi

Betty Boop (animated; 1930-1939)
One of the most famous cartoon characters ever, and also a classic sex symbol. I don't recall when I first became aware of her, but she had a small role in the 1988 movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and I'm fairly sure I had known of her before that. When I was in college in the mid 90s, I bought a milk mustache t-shirt with her on it, which I don't think I still have, but I don't know what became of it. And... I'm not sure what else to say, except that it's probably been ever since the 80s that the character has had lots of merchandise, and... I dunno, I just like her. So I really should see some of her short films someday.

Felix the Cat (animated; 1919-1936)
In 1995, the character appeared in a TV series, "The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat," which I don't remember well but I'm sure I liked. I don't remember for sure if I'd been aware of the character before that, but I probably had been, at least vaguely. Anyway, I'd kind of like to see some of his old short films.

Flash Gordon (live-action; 1936)
A movie serial, not exactly a series of short films, but still... I feel like it's more apt to call it such than a feature film. Anyway, I'd like to see this someday, and maybe a couple of other Flash Gordon serials. (There are any number of serials featuring familiar-or vaguely familiar- characters such as Batman, Superman, Zorro, et al., in which I might have some vague interest, but probably wouldn't bother with, being more interested in TV or feature film incarnations. Flash is definitely the one I'm most interested in, as far as serials go.)

Our Gang (live-action; 1922-1944)
Also known as "The Little Rascals." I'm not super interested in this series, but I've always been at least vaguely interested in it. There was a feature film in 1994, which I've never seen but might like to check out, someday.

Popeye the Sailor (animated; 1933-1957)
I must have seen any number of Popeye cartoons on TV when I was quite young, but I barely remember them now, nor do I know whether they were original TV cartoons or if they were older theatrical shorts.

Superman (animated; 1941-1943)
The character, of course, first appeared in comic books in 1938, but over the years I think there have been probably a few movie serials, both live action and animated. I'm only really interested in the Fleischer animated shorts of the early 1940s, which I plan to eventually get on DVD.
