In a Heartbeat (4:05)
facebook; IMDb; Short of the Week; tumblr; TV Tropes; Vimeo; Wikipedia; YouTube

This was released at the end of July, 2017, and I first saw it on August 2. I saw it because things about it were suddenly appearing in my facebook feed, and I was like, "Wait, didn't I already see this?" But apparently I had just seen the trailer, probably a couple of months earlier. Anyway... it's about a couple of middle school boys, whose names aren't revealed in the film, though they are revealed in various behind the scenes sources. And there isn't really any dialog in the film. There's just one boy who is sort of stalking his crush, but trying to stay out of sight because he doesn't want to be outed as gay, I guess. However, his heart literally leaps out of his chest and flies to the other boy, and the first boy's attempts to recover his heart kind of force his feelings to be revealed.

Apparently part of the internet is in love with the film, and predictably, a darker part of the internet is full of hate. As for myself, I liked it, but I didn't love it. I don't have any particular reasons for not loving it, at least none that I would know how to express. But I'm happy that it exists, and I'm happy to have seen it, and I'm happy that a lot of people do love it. It really is pretty good, and I think it'd be cool to see more from the filmmakers in the future.
