It's Only a Movie film festival
facebook; official website (archived)

This was a horror short film festival that ran, as far as I can tell, from 2012 to 2015. I only know about it because the "intro film" for the 2015 film festival was shown on Crypt TV's facebook page in 2016. (I probably first saw it in 2017.) In 2020, I discovered that there were also intro films for the other years of the festival, so I decided to check them out, and write up little reviews of each of them. I'd also like to try to find films that were featured in the festival each year. Unfortunately, the fest's website no longer exists, but it can be seen via the Wayback Machine. So even if the films themselves aren't there, I can at least find a list of their titles and directors. So, one of these days maybe I'll Google them, or something. If I do ever watch any of them and feel like reviewing them, they'll get their own pages. This page is just for the fest's intro films.

A little girl is playing with her toys, but then gets frightened by something in her closet, and wakes up screaming. Her mom comes in and tells her she just had a bad dream, and if she can't control her fear, she can't watch any more scary movies. And she says, "Just keep telling yourself 'It's only a movie.'" Well... the film has a sort of double-twist ending, one that's pretty funny and one that's scary.

A man and woman (I'm not sure if they're married, dating, or just friends) have been watching a werewolf movie (which is currently paused). The woman delights in playing little jokes to scare the man. Finally, they're about to continue watching the movie, and... there's a scary twist that I thought was just okay.

A man is sitting in a graveyard, waiting for the "talent" to show up for a movie he's working on, but he's really freaked out by just being where he is. Then a cop shows up and says he (and his unseen associates) will have to leave if they don't have a permit. There are a couple of "scary" twists, and I thought the first one was kind of decent, but the second one was just silly.

A woman talks to a friend on the phone, saying she feels like she's being watched. I pretty quickly figured it would probably turn out that she's being watched by us, the viewers. And... I guess that's sort of true, when the reveal comes, and... sort of not. I dunno. It's not a bad little film, anyway.
