Laura Hasn't Slept (11:00)

A woman named Laura is talking to a therapist about a recurring nightmare she's been having. I don't think I could say much more without totally spoiling the short film, but it's definitely disturbing and creepy, and there's a reasonably effective jump scare at the end.
The short came out in 2020, and led to the 2022 feature film Smile. I didn't see the short until 2024, and I only watched it because I was planning on watching "Smile", and when I found out it was based on a short film, I thought I should watch this first. It's a well made short film, but I suspect I would have found it a bit less interesting if I saw without knowing about its connection to the feature film. I'm not sure I would have bothered writing a review at all, and I probably would have rated it slightly lower than I did here. But that's not the film's fault, it's just my need for short films to wow me more than I need feature films to do, I guess. Honestly, it probably objectively deserves a higher rating than I've given it, not a lower one. It really is pretty good in terms of both story and visuals, and the acting is also good. So I'm glad I watched it.
