Woman's Intuition (8:22)
Vimeo

This is something I came across while looking at director Patrick Rea's Vimeo page. I had been looking through Dread Central's reviews for horror shorts, and one that was listed there was Rea's Cafe at the Crossroads, which I liked well enough. Later I read a review there of another one of his films, "Howl of a Good Time," but I only found a teaser trailer for that, not the whole film. Meanwhile, I did check out a couple of the other films he has on Vimeo, including this one and Get Off My Porch.

Anyway, there's a woman named Mary, who's talking with a doctor. She's had him run lots of tests on her for various terminal illnesses, but they were all negative. Finally, he asks why she's so sure that she's dying, and she tells him about a sense she's had her whole life. Whenever she's in any kind of danger, she hears a sound that warns her in time for her to avoid that danger. We see some scenes of a few of the times this sense has saved her, and even the doctor takes her word for it. But recently, the sound has just been constant, with no obvious cause. And that's why she believes she's sick. However, in the end, we do learn that she's not sick... and what the sound is actually warning her about. I won't spoil that for you, but it definitely is something to be feared....
