This 2019 short film was presented by Alter in 2020.
This is a black & white film based on the story "The Big Toe", from the anthology book "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" (which I haven't read, though I have seen the movie), and I think it was a folk tale long before that. In the short film, a starving boy is out looking for food, when he sees a big toe sticking up out of the ground. He takes it back to his ramshackle house, where he uses a steam contraption to cook it, and then eats it. That night, the toe's very creepy (and very dead) owner comes looking for it. I guess the story was okay, but I mostly enjoyed the film for its stop-motion animation.
