Criterion doesn't make films, but it does restore a lot of films and release them on home video, generally as special editions. Being released by Criterion seems to be a good indicator that a film is of particularly high quality, so I'm interested in seeing as many of their films as I can. However, even when they do release a DVD or Blu-ray, the movie will likely still be available from other distributors, so the version I obtain may not be the Criterion version. Nevertheless, I'll always try to be aware of whether Criterion has released their own edition of any movies I watch, and include a link to their site in my reviews.
