TriStar Pictures
(a subsidiary of Sony Pictures; founded in 1982 as a joint venture of Columbia Pictures, CBS, and HBO. Part of "Columbia/TriStar" since 1987, which was acquired by Sony in like 1989 or something, but the various things Wikipedia says about all this are so confusing and seemingly contradictory that I really don't understand any of it. Meanwhile, I get the sense that some movies are made or distributed by Columbia, some by TriStar, and some by Columbia/TriStar. Which, again, is confusing, and I'm probably misinterpreting much of what I've read. But at least all the home video seems to be distributed by Sony, so whatevs. I'll do my best to only list movies on this page that I believe were made by TriStar, and not Columbia. Please forgive any mistakes I may make.)
