Seriously, what the bloody hell did I just watch?
It's based on a short story by Neil Gaiman, which I've never read. It's set in 1977 in Croydon, London. There are three fans of punk music named Enn, Victor, and John. After a punk show at a local club run by Queen Boadicea (Nicole Kidman), they search for the afterparty, but end up in the wrong place, where Enn meets a girl named Zan (Elle Fanning). Everyone there is very strange; actually there are six "colonies" of people, each of which is strange in its own way, though all of them are also strange in some of the same ways. To say any more about them would be too much of a spoiler, I believe. (But it's something you'll figure out pretty quickly, if you watch the movie.) Anyway, Enn and Zan spend a couple of days getting to know each other better, and Enn introduces her to punk music. And stuff. I don't know what else to say except the whole thing is just very weird. I kind of want to call it avant garde, but that might be giving it a little too much credit.
