Jewel: Let It Snow - A Holiday Collection

This came out in 2013, but I didn't listen to it until 2021. It's Jewel's second Christmas album, but the only one I've got. This version has 12 tracks, but there's also a deluxe version with 16 tracks. Alas, I won't be able to comment on the four extra songs.
1. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! ...Jewel's voice is nice, as always, but the music is just a little too country & western for my taste. I liked the song, though.
2. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas: It's good.
3. Do You Hear What I Hear? ...It's never been one of my favorite Christmas songs, but Jewel sings it nicely. It's rather soft and comfy. But it gets louder as it goes on. It still sounds good. While I like this rendition, I still think my favorite is by Kristin Chenoweth).
4. It's Christmastime: An original song. It's nice, very Christmasy, but I don't expect to find it memorable.
5. What Child Is This? ...It's okay.
6. Panis Angelicus: I'm mainly aware of this song because of Jackie Evancho, whose rendition is more operatic than Jewel's. I think I like that one better than this one, but this is okay, too.
7. Blue Crystal Glow: Another original song. It's very wintry, and kind of ethereal. It's nice.
8. Sleigh Ride: There's like a children's choir in some parts, which isn't bad. Of course I prefer Jewel's parts.
9. White Christmas: After awhile the song gets kind of funky (by which I mean honky-tonky). It's not bad, but certainly not my favorite rendition of the song.
10. Silver Bells: This is a country version of the song, which I guess works okay. It's not a bad take, but not my favorite.
11. The Christmas Song: Soft and slow, just as it should be. But she's no Nat King Cole.
12. I'll Be Home for Christmas: This starts out a cappella, before being joined by instruments. In the middle, Jewel sings it in French, but mostly it's English. I definitely enjoyed the little variation, though.
Well, I think it's a good album, because I've long been a fan of Jewel's voice (ever since the album "Pieces of You" in 1995). I didn't like it quite as much as I expected to, but I can't say I'm disappointed by it.
