A Very Special Christmas 7 (various artists)
AllMusic; Amazon; Apple Music; Discogs; official website; Spotify; TV Tropes; Wikipedia
This came out in 2009, It's part of a series that benefits the Special Olympics. I bought and listened to the CD in 2024. There's a bonus track on Apple Music by Jason Mraz, which isn't on the CD I've got, though I guess it's on a reissue from 2010.
1. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", by Colbie Caillat: This is a very nice rendition of the song.
2. "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!", by The Carter Twins: I'm not at all familiar with this country music duo, but the song is alright.
3. "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", by Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana: I'm only passingly familiar with the TV show "Hannah Montana", but I like Cyrus well enough. This is a reasonably fun rendition.
4. "Winter Wonderland", by Vanessa Hudgens: I'm a fan of some of her acting, and this is a lovely rendition. I suppose she's at least vaguely associated with Disney Channel, just like Miley Cyrus. And that's not the last DC connection on this album.
5. "The Little Drummer Boy", by Sean Kingston: It's certainly interesting to hear a reggae version of this song. I like it.
6. "The Christmas Song", by Charice: I'm not familiar with this singer, but he does a good job with the song.
7. "Do You Hear What I Hear?", by Kristinia DeBarge: I'm also unfamiliar with her, but the rendition is good.
8. "Jingle Bell Rock", by Mitchell Musso: He was also on "Hannah Montana", as well as providing a voice on "Phineas & Ferb", so that's another Disney Channel connection. He does a fun rendition of the song. It includes some new lyrics, but mostly it's the familiar song.
9. "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)", by Leighton Meester: I'm a fan of her acting, and I've heard her sing in a couple of her roles. This is a good rendition.
10. "Santa Baby", by Kellie Pickler: I'm not really familiar with this country singer, but her rendition is decent.
11. "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing", by Carrie Underwood: This is a good rendition.
12. "Last Christmas", by Ashley Tisdale: Yet another Disney Channel actress. This is a reasonably fun pop rendition of the song.
13. "Silent Night", by Gloriana: I'm not familiar with this country group. I was a bit thrown by the fact that they start the song with the second verse and do the first verse after that. Then the third verse. Then back to the first. But whatever, it's a good rendition.
So... I've given this the highest rating of any "Very Special Christmas" album I've heard so far, but that's a bit misleading. This one doesn't have any tracks that I consider to be standouts or particularly memorable, unlike the first few albums. So it's really less important to me than some other albums in the series. But on the other hand, I did really like every track on this album, so it averages out to a higher overall rating, even though other albums have individual songs I'd rate higher than anything on this album.
