Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
abkco; AllMusic; Amazon; Apple Music; Discogs; Spotify; Wikia; Wikipedia

This is the soundtrack to the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. It came out in 2010, and I bought it in 2013. There are other versions of the album with bonus tracks, but I just have the original version. I'm reviewing it in 2024. Some songs are original to the movie, and others are older. (I list the year of release for a few of them, but not all of them, for some reason.)

1. "We Are Sex Bob-Omb", by Sex Bob-Omb: This is loud and raucous and it rocks.

2. "Scott Pilgrim", by Plumtree: This is not definitively about Scott Pilgrim, but it's a fun song.

3. "I Heard Ramona Sing", by Frank Black: This is sung by Frank Black.

4. "By Your Side", by Beachwood Sparks: This is sweet.

5. "O Katrina!", by Black Lips: This is one of the few songs on the album that I think I knew independently of the movie. I must have seen the music video on TV, I think. It's kind of cool.

6. "I'm So Sad, So Very, Very Sad", by Crash and the Boys: This is thirteen seconds long. Actually, the song itself is shorter than that.

7. "We Hate You Please Die", by Crash and the Boys: This is fifty-nine seconds long, but it feels a bit longer than that, especially after the previous song. It's cool.

8. "Garbage Truck", by Sex Bob-Omb: This song has unusual lyrics. But it's cool.

9. "Teenage Dream", by T. Rex: This is the longest song on the album, at 5:45. It's from 1974. I don't quite feel like I'd ever heard it before, but for me it evokes some kind of B-movie, in a good way. Maybe it even kind of reminds me of something from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

10. "Sleazy Bed Track", by The Bluetones: This is from 1998, but it feels like it could be from the 70s. It's kind of depressing, but I like it.

11. "It's Getting Boring by the Sea", by Blood Red Shoes: This is pretty cool.

12. "Black Sheep", by Metric: This is another song I knew independent of the movie, because I had seen the music video. It's probably my favorite song from the album, but I don't usually think of the movie when I hear it. It's probably also the first Metric song I ever heard, and I've enjoyed a number of songs by the band since then. (At least one song of theirs that I know came out before this, though, so I'm not sure if I first heard it before or after this.) Oh, and I should say that in the movie, it's sung by Brie Larson (with Metric), and that version is available on the extended edition of the soundtrack. It's good, but I prefer the version with the band's regular singer, Emily Haines.

13. "Threshold", by Sex Bob-Omb: This is cool.

14. "Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl", by Broken Social Scene: This is softer than most of the songs on the album, but I still can't make out all the lyrics. But I like it.

15. "Under My Thumb", by The Rolling Stones: Of course I knew this song before.

16. "Ramona (Acoustic Version)", by Beck: This is about a minute long. It's okay.

17. "Ramona", by Beck: This version is 4:22. I like it a bit more than the acoustic version, mostly because it has more lyrics. And more instrumentation. It's kind of dreamy.

18. "Summertime", by Sex Bob-Omb: This isn't as loud as most Sex Bob-Omb songs. But it's still good.

19. "Threshold (8-Bit)", by Brian LeBarton: This was made on a Commodore 64 computer, so it sounds like an 8-bit video game, which is cool. I have no idea if it's supposed to be the same as the song of the same name by Sex Bob-Omb or not, but they're about the same length.

So, anyway, it's a cool soundtrack for a cool movie. I don't know what else to say.
