Heroes & Villains: Music Inspired by The Powerpuff Girls

Caution: spoilers?
This was released in 2000, and I probably bought it thereabouts. It features music by various artists, inspired by the animated series The Powerpuff Girls, but it isn't actually a soundtrack. As far as I know, none of these songs (except the opening and closing themes) ever appeared in the show itself. But at the end of each track there are bits of an unfolding story performed by the show's voice actors, with Mojo Jojo trying to destroy Townsville, and the Powerpuff Girls trying to stop him. (I'll be a bit more specific about most of these interludes, but not all of them.) The story itself is fairly rote, but not bad. And I think all the songs are awesome. The liner notes provide lyrics for all the songs except the hidden track.
1. "The Powerpuff Girls (Main Theme)": Just like in the show. After the theme, the Narrator says it seems like it's going to be a nice day in Townsville, when suddenly Mojo attacks!
2. "Go Monkey Go", by Devo: Sounds like they're having fun cheering Mojo on.
3. "Pray for the Girls", by Frank Black: Talking dog and others dream about Mojo and go to the Mayor for help. Then they pray for the girls, like the title says. The song totally rocks. After the song, the Mayor calls the girls, and they take off to help.
4. "Signal in the Sky (Let's Go)", by The Apples in Stereo: Of course there isn't really a signal in the sky, but this is a really fun song that acts as if there is. Like Batman!
5. "Walk & Chew Gum", by Optiganally Yours: This is a fun, carnival-ish song about how incompetent the Mayor is. I made an AMV with this song, in 2006. After the song, the girls show up, with Buttercup taking the lead.
6. "Buttercup (I'm a Super Girl)", by Shonen Knife: This song is punk, and it really rocks. It's all about how much Buttercup likes to fight. After the song, Blossom takes over.
7. "B.L.O.S.S.O.M.", by Komeda: This is also fun, like all the songs, but I'm not sure what to say about it. It doesn't seem very specific to Blossom, aside from the title. After the song, Bubbles gets into the fight.
8. "Bubbles", by Dressy Bessy: This song is pretty dreamy and upbeat and innocent, just like Bubbles. After the song, Mojo gloats.
9. "Fight the Power", by Bis: So, this is from Mojo's perspective, and it rocks. I made an AMV with this song, in 2006. After the song, a news announcement says the girls have been defeated, to the Professor's dismay.
10. "Don't Look Down", by The Sugarplastic: This one's from Professor Utonium's perspective. It's fatherly and sweet. After the song, the Narrator sees the girls rise up and launch back into the fray.
11. "The Fight", by Cornelius: This is an electronic remix of lines from the opening theme, with some words from the girls themselves, and fighting sounds mixed in. After the song we learn that Mojo has been defeated.
12. "Friends Win", by The Bill Doss: This is about Mojo Jojo, as well as other villains, and how they can't win because they don't have friendship, like the Powerpuff Girls do. After the song, the Narrator announces that the day is saved!
13. "The Powerpuff Girls (End Theme)", by Bis: This is an extended version of the show's closing theme song, and it's pretty cool. After the song, there's a hidden track called "Love Makes the World Go Round" by Marty & Elayne with John Andrews. It's a cover of a song that the girls sang in one episode of the show. I actually prefer the girls' version, but this is okay, I guess.
So yeah, that's the story. I love all the songs. I love the album. It is just so amazingly cool.
