Music from the Motion Picture The Wedding Singer

This is the soundtrack to the movie The Wedding Singer. It was released in 1998. The same year, a second volume was released. (I don't have that, but might like to get it.)
1. "Video Killed the Radio Star", by The Presidents of the United States of America: I don't know why they couldn't just use the original by the Buggles, but this cover definitely rocks.
2. "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me", by Culture Club: The beginning of the song is a part I tend to forget. It's fine, but I spend the whole thing just waiting for the main part of the song to start. Once it does, the song is really good. The feel of the song is that it should be a bit depressing, but the sound is more... I don't quite want to say "upbeat", but, I dunno, it's just hard to be sad while listening to it.
3. "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic", by The Police: Now this song I would say is a bit more upbeat. Really good.
4. "How Soon Is Now?", by The Smiths: One of the few songs on the album with which I wasn't already familiar. So there's no way I'm going to remember it, and my appreciation of it suffers by comparison to the familiar songs. But it's still good.
5. "Love My Way", by The Psychedelic Furs: Another song I didn't know. It's okay.
6. "Hold Me Now", by Thompson Twins: It's a pleasant song, but I'm not sure how I'm meant to feel about it. Is it happy or sad or what?
7. "Everyday I Write the Book", by Elvis Costello: This is a song I know, but I only remember that it exists while I'm listening to it, which isn't often. So I'm glad it's here to remind me that it exists, because it's definitely very good.
8. "White Wedding", by Billy Idol: First of all, it's cool to have this on the album just because Idol appears as himself in the movie. As for the song itself, I like it mainly because it's familiar to me. It rocks. But I'm really not sure exactly what it's about, whether it's a good thing or a bad thing. (I am against "shotgun weddings", if that's what it is.)
9. "China Girl", by David Bowie: Wikipedia says this was originally by Iggy Pop, which I wouldn't have known. Either way, it's not a song that's particularly familiar to me. And I just think it's sort of okay.
10. "Blue Monday", by New Order: It's more than 2 minutes before any singing starts (and it almost sounds more like spoken word than singing). Until that starts, I didn't recognize the song at all, but then I did recognize it as something that's familiar to me. I've probably only heard the shorter version; this one is over 7 minutes long. Anyway, it's cool.
11. "Pass the Dutchie", by Musical Youth: This is a song I've always really liked, even though there are parts of it I don't understand. It's just fun to listen to.
12. "Have You Written Anything Lately?": This is just some dialogue from the movie, which sets up the next track.
13. "Somebody Kill Me", by Adam Sandler: It's kind of the perfect breakup song, although I admit it's also kind of problematic.
14. "Rapper's Delight", by Ellen Dow and Sugarhill Gang: There are parts I don't like, like being homophobic and body-shaming. But mostly it's pretty cool. And the part that's sung by Dow in the movie is fun.
Well, what else can I say? The album is just very 80s, of course, because that's when the movie is set. It's a really good compilation with all good artists.
