This program ran from 1992 to 1999. I'm not sure when I first heard it or how much of it I heard, but I liked it a lot. (I think it was on Sunday mornings, though if so, I don't recall if it would have been before or after church, or if I only got to hear it if I didn't go to church. Or maybe it wasn't Sunday at all.) It was hosted by Peter Schickele, who was rather amusing; he had a pleasantly goofy sense of humor. And he clearly knew a lot about music, and more importantly was as far removed as one can be from being a snob about it. While he played a lot of classical music on the mix, he played music from lots of different, more modern genres, as well. The whole point was "if it sounds good, it is good." And I guess he tried to teach listeners how different types of music were actually more similar than one might expect. Personally, I never learned a damn thing about music, I just listened because I loved the eclecticism of it all. There was lots of good music of every description, and... as I said, Schickele was funny. So I'll always remember the show fondly.
Oh yes, and the show opened and closed with Mozart's Symphony No. 24, 2nd Movement. So that's nostalgic to me, too.
