Tarn Bengaal
Born 2318, Karemma. Bengaal was a brilliant military man, and quickly
rose through the ranks of the Karemma fleet. He eventually became a
fleet captain, in charge of the entire Karemma fleet. He was in fact
one of the most powerful people in the Dominion, having friends in
every major fleet. But he was secretly opposed to the Dominion, and
worked to overthrow it, in small ways, for many years. His actions were
never discovered. But in 2357, he was travelling on his flagship, the
Tonokta (a Karemma word meaning "first"). The ship's captain,
Dalius Tostin, was investigating a tip that Bol Niroka, a traitor to
the Dominion, would be on planet Tirosh. There turned out also to be a
Vorta ship, the Closer, tracking another traitor, Tala, to the
same planet. It was a complete coincidence they should be there at the
same time, as they had never met before, and they both happened to be
taking vacations there, a rarity for both of them. They would both have
been killed if not for Bengaal, who warned them and got them to a safe
hideout. He managed to destroy both Dominion ships in the process, and
joined Niroka and Tala on Tirosh, in a city called Corsica. There they
had discussions for several days, and finally officially established
the Rebellion. They called themselves admirals, and Bengaal was named
commander-in-chief of the Rebellion military. Bengaal, Niroka, and Tala
eventually came to be refered to by the rebels as The Three.
They brought together all their associates, who in turn
brought together their associates, and the Rebellion began to
grow from there. Soon there was a vast network of secret Rebel bases
scattered around the quadrant. Bengaal, meanwhile, returned to Karemma.
He was court martialed, and the Founders wanted him executed. But there
was not enough proof that he was responsible for the destruction of
the ships, so his life was spared. However, the Founders had at least
enough influence to get the Karemma fleet to bust him down to ensign,
permanently. For that reason, Bengaal decided that the lowest possible
rank in the Rebellion would be Lieutenant, though he sarcastically
named his own flagship, a Karemma Cruiser, the Ensign's Wrath.
In 2375, the Rebellion won a major victory against the Dominion, and
established their official headquarters on Tirosh, where they set up a
new government. They have renamed the Rebellion: the Republic. Bengaal
and Niroka became grand admirals, as they promoted a number of generals
to the rank of admiral.
Bol Niroka
Born 2307, Vorta. Niroka grew up in an aristocratic family, one of the
most powerful on Vorta. And he followed in his family's footsteps. When
he was 25, he became a Senator in the Vorta World Council, and for years
he was a great leader, one of the most powerful people on his world.
However, he secretly was aiding a number of dissidents against the
Dominion. His actions were discovered in 2352 by Senator Evazan Torat, who
turned him in to the Dominion. Niroka barely managed to escape on a
ship crewed by those who were loyal to him, a Vorta Dreadnaught called
the Republic. However, his entire family was murdered in his
stead. He continued his anti-Dominion activities for years. In 2357,
he took a vacation, a rarity for him, on Tirosh. He was unaware he was
being followed by a Karemma ship, the Tonokta. He would have
died had he not been warned by Tarn Bengaal. Later, Niroka, Bengaal,
and another anti-Dominion activist, Tala, had meetings for a few days,
and officially established the Rebellion. The three named themselves
admirals in the Rebellion, and brought together all their associates.
Niroka, Bengaal, and Tala came to be refered to by the rebels as The Three.
The Rebellion grew over the years, and in 2375 they had a major victory
against the Dominion. They established a new government on Tirosh, and
renamed themselves the Republic. Niroka became Chief Councillor of the
Republic. Niroka and Bengaal became grand admirals, as they promoted a
number of generals to admirals.
Tala
Born 2022, the Changeling homeworld. Tala was an artist, from before
the time of the Dominion. At one point she spent a number of years
visiting a remote planet on the edge of explored space, and when she
returned, she found the long-exiled Jem'Hadar, a mistake of genetic
engineering, for which her people were responsible, had taken over the
Changeling homeworld and founded their Dominion. They executed all the
changelings old enough to remember the way things used to be, and
trained all young changelings to worship them as gods. The Founders
taught changelings that they had been created by the Jem'Hadar. In
addition, the Founders possessed a weapon named for the man who invented
it, White. It could freeze changelings in one shape and speed up the
natural decay process, killing them. Changelings became the elite
enforcers, assassins, and spies for the Founders. They were kept away
from each other, so as not to discover the truth by accidentally Linking.
Tala was now the only changeling left who knew the truth, and she went
about fighting the Dominion wherever she could, and converting any
changelings she could by Linking with them and letting them know the
truth. In 2357, she was taking a vacation on Tirosh, unaware that she
was being tracked by a Vorta ship, the Closer. She would have
been killed if not warned by Tarn Bengaal. Later, Tala, Bengaal, and
Niroka held meetings and established the Rebellion, gathering their
associates. The three named themselves admirals, and Tala acquired a
Dosi Blockade-runner called the Sojourner. Tala, Bengaal, and
Niroka came to be refered to by the rebels as The Three. In 2375, the
Rebellion achieved a major victory against the Dominion, but not
without great cost. Among the ships lost was the Sojourner, and
all aboard were killed, including Admiral Tala.
Amick Tulann
Born 2345, Tind. Tulann was a captain at the Rebel base on Tind. He
commanded a squadron of Tindan T-Wings. His own ship was the Grey
Leader. In 2375, his base was captured while fighting the Dominion,
and only Tulann and two other T-Wings from Grey Squadron escaped. They
made it to Lator base, and joined them for a time. It wasn't long
before one T-Wing, Grey Eight, was destroyed in battle. Grey
Leader and Grey Five survived to fight in the major battle
awhile later, and they both survived that as well. They then relocated
to Tirosh, where Tulann was promoted to general, in charge of the new
Republic headquarters in Corsica.
Tavis Sil
Born 2315, Vorta. Sil was an anti-Dominion activist for many years,
and an associate of Senator Niroka. When the Rebellion was formed in
2357, Niroka made Sil a general, and put him in charge of one of the
most important Rebel bases, on Vorta. Sil was a great leader, and one
of his best abilities was to immediately determine where there was a
possible problem, and just as quickly solve it. Often, those around him
had no idea he was doing it until it was done. Sometimes they barely
even realized there was a problem at all. He was a great asset to the
Rebellion for many years, and when the Republic was established in 2375,
he was promoted to admiral. He continued to serve on Vorta, where he
is in charge of efforts to retake the planet from the Dominion. It isn't
expected to take long.
Dysan Lator
Born 2334, Terra. When Dysan was 22, he and some friends stole a small
Alliance ship to fight in the Terran Resistance. They were soon captured
and all of them were killed, except Dysan, who was sent to Terok Nor
as a slave. In 2369, he and a group of Terran slaves escaped, with the
help of Quark and a Terran in Captain Sisko's crew. The eight escapees
stole an Alliance Raider, which they renamed the Houdini. They
stumbled through the wormhole and were discovered by Tarn Bengaal, who
helped them establish a base on a small barren planetoid. Bengaal made
Dysan a general in the Rebellion, which was fighting the Dominion.
Bengaal got them two slightly larger ships, but Dysan continued to use
the Houdini, which was also crewed by Commander Alex Franx and
Lieutenant Tirosh Oklan. Franx later got himself a new ship, and it was
just Dysan and Oklan on the Houdini. In 2375, the Rebellion won
a major victory against the Dominion, but not without great cost. Among
the many ships lost was the Houdini, and Dysan and Oklan died.
Samuel Esstar Lator
Born 2350, Terra. When Sam was seven, his brother Dysan and some friends
stole a ship to fight the Alliance. Dysan was sent to Terok Nor as a
slave. When Sam was 13, he and two friends, Jax DeSabel and Alex Franx,
stole a small ship themselves, and went to Terok Nor to rescue Dysan.
They miraculously made it all the way to Terok Nor before being captured.
They became slaves themselves. In 2369, eight Terran slaves, including
Sam, Dysan, Jax, and Alex, escaped in a stole Raider, the Houdini.
The stumbled through the wormhole and were discovered by Tarn Bengaal,
who helped them establish a base on a small barren planetoid. Sam became
a captain in the Rebellion, which was fighting the Dominion. Bengaal
got two new ships for Lator base, including a Karemma Warscout which
Sam commanded and called the Trojan Horse.
In 2375, the Rebellion won a major victory against
the Dominion, but Dysan Lator was killed. Sam was promoted to general,
and got command of Lator Base. He continues to command the Trojan Horse.
Jax Kirk DeSabel
Born 2350, Terra. Jax was friends with Sam Lator and Alex Franx, growing
up. He became a bit of a hacker, and when he was 12 he stumbled across
some information in an Alliance database. Sam's brother Dysan, whom
they had all thought had been killed with his friends when they stole
a ship to fight the Alliance, had actually been sent to Terok Nor as a
slave. He told his friends, and the three of them made plans and stole
a small Klingon ship to rescue Dysan. They made it to Terok Nor before
being captured, and were slaves there for a number of years. In 2369,
They and some other Terran slaves had help from Quark and a Terran in
Sisko's crew, in stealing an Alliance Raider. They stumbled through the
wormhole, and were discovered by Tarn Bengaal, who helped them establish
a base on a small barren planetoid. Jax became a captain in the Rebellion,
which was fighting the Dominion. Bengaal got two new ships for them,
including a Karemma Warscout, which Jax commanded and called the
Achilles' Heel. On a later
foray into the alpha quadrant, Jax discovered that the Terran who had
helped them escape had been killed by Garak for his actions. Jax tried
to kill Garak for that, but was thwarted in his efforts, barely managing
to escape again himself. While Jax had been a prisoner on Terok Nor, he
had met a girl named Theresa Thurbur. He never got to know her well,
but she was one of the escapees, and at the base they developed a
relationship. In 2375, the Rebellion won a major victory against the
Dominion, and Jax was promoted to general, and took charge of a major
shipbuilding facility at Vorta. He got himself a new ship, a Vorta
Dreadnaught which he called the General Chaos. Theresa also moved
to Vorta, being promoted to captain and getting her own ship.
Alexander Vaughn Franx
Born 2349, Terra. Alex grew up friends with Sam Lator and Jax DeSabel.
When Alex was 13, the three of them stole a ship and headed for Terok
Nor to rescue Sam's brother Dysan. They were captured and made slaves.
In 2369, eight Terrans escaped on an Alliance Raider, including Alex
and his friends. They stumbled through the wormhold, and were discovered
by Tarn Bengaal, who helped them establish a base on a small barren
planetoid. Alex became a commander in the Rebellion, which was fighting
the Dominion. He was on the crew of the Houdini with Dysan and
Oklan, until in 2375 he captured his own ship in the middle of a battle.
It was a Jem'Hadar one-man fighter, which he named the Captain's Fire.
He chose this name partly in reference to Bengaal's Ensign's Wrath,
and partly to celebrate the promotion Dysan gave him to captain when he
captured the ship. That year, the Rebellion won a major victory against
the Dominion, and Alex could likely have gotten a better job in the
Republic elsewhere, but he chose to remain at Lator Base.
Togan Brillish
Born 2342, Karemma. Brillish worked in the Karemma fleet, and became a
lieutenant commander on the same ship as Ensign Bengaal. Bengaal had a
talent for sniffing out Rebellion sympathizers, and Brillish was one of
them. In 2370, he asked Brillish to quit the fleet and go to Lator Base.
Brillish agreed, and was made a commander in the Rebellion. He acted as
an informant for Bengaal at the base. Bengaal secretly had such people
working for him at all his bases, so he could keep appraised of what
was really going on. It wasn't that he didn't trust his people, but he
did like to be safe. Theresa Thurbur came to suspect this, but didn't
do much more than keep a watchful eye on Brillish. In 2375, Jax was
promoted to general and left the base. Brillish was promoted to captain,
and took command of the Achilles' Heel.
D'Artagnan
Born 2357, Changeling homeworld. D'Artagnan was fairly new to his job as
a spy, when he was captured in 2375 by the people he was supposed to
be spying on, at Lator Base. Changelings, of course, were not given
names by the Jem'Hadar who raised them. His assigned number was
275-06-3000. However, Sam Lator (not Captain Lator, but the Sam from
our universe) took an interest in the changeling, and brought him to
Vorta when Dysan's group went there to prepare for a major battle. The
changeling was converted by Admiral Tala, and then joined our universe's
Sam, Jax, and Alex on the Musketeer. Jax took to calling him
D'Artagnan after that, or Dart, for short. He decided to keep the name.
The Rebellion won a major victory against the Rebellion that year, but
not without great losses. Among the casualties were Admiral Tala and
apparently all the converted changelings. Now Dart was the only one of
his people left who knew the truth, and he was rather new to it. But he
felt it was his responsibility to take up Tala's work of converting his
people. He was given a ship, a Dosi Blockade-runner which he called the
Sojourner II. He is based on Tirosh, but spends very little time
there, as his work takes him now to all corners of the Dominion/Republic,
finding and converting changelings.
Theresa Thurbur
Born 1976, Terra. In 1992, she had what she refers to as "a little
temporal accident," which she's never explained to anyone (except
perhaps Jax). She ended up in 2368. Finding the planet controlled by
the Alliance, she made as much trouble for them as she could before
being captured and sent to Terok Nor. The next year, she was among 8
Terran escapees who stole an Alliance Raider and stumbled through the
wormhole. They were found by Bengaal, who helped them establish a base
on a small barren planetoid. The escapees became enmeshed in the
Rebellion, which was fighting against the Dominion. Theresa became
base commander, in many ways the second most powerful person on the
base. She also began a relationship with Jax DeSabel, Captain of the
Achilles' Heel. In 2375, the Rebellion won a major victory, and
Theresa and Jax transferred to Vorta, where Jax became a general in
charge of a major shipyard facility, Theresa became a captain in charge
of her own ship, a Vorta Explorer she called the Tempus Destiny.
Jynar Linkoth
Born 2348, Voorsus Bastus. Jynar is Vooworshii. Before he was
born, Vooworsh was assimilated by the Borg. As far as he knows, the
only Vooworshii to escape were his parents. They escaped on a small
ship which the renamed the Voorsus Bastus, which translates
roughly as "final free people". Jynar was born on the ship, and a few
months later they arrived in the Gamma Quadrant and settled on a Karemma
colony world, Ok'rem'Tal. Jynar grew up with 3 close friends: Rosha
and Arlissa Tintun, and Sikleth Tubren. As teenagers, the four of them
formed their own small resistance group against the Dominion, and were
quickly captured and imprisoned. They spent nearly a year in prison,
until a friend of Bengaal helped them escape and got them into a larger
Rebel group on Ok'rem'Tal. three years later Bengaal transferred them
to Lator Base, in 2370. They all became commanders there. Jynar served on the
Achilles' Heel, and when Jax left in 2375, Jynar thought he
might become captain of it. Instead, that position went to Togan Brillish.
Jynar decided to take over the position of base commander, recently
vacated by Theresa Thurbur, who was now captain of a ship based at Vorta.
Garth Ardeen
Born 2349, Terra. Centuries before the Alliance took over, Garth's
ancestors started accumulating a library. Generations down the line,
when the Alliance did take over, they outlawed most reading materials
on Earth, and tried to keep people from learning to read much at all.
But the Ardeen family kept its library hidden, a secret from the Alliance.
Many people went there to learn to read, and then to read as much as
possible. They had all sorts of books, newspapers, magazines of all
sorts. they had all these things on discs and chips as well as on paper.
Some stuff was academic or informational, but alot of it was just for
fun. As a child, Garth read alot. Especially comic books. His favorite
were from the 20th century, about the Legion of Super Heroes. As a
teenager, he decided he would make himself into a superhero. He was
already somewhat psychic, and a bit of a technical genius. He scrounged
as much technology as he could lay hands on, and invented numerous
devices himself. He implanted himself with lots of devices that gave
him powers similar to some of those of various members of the Legion
of Super Heroes. He called himself Legion, and set off as a one-man
army to take back Earth. He had some successes, but was ultimately
captured, his devices were removed, and he was sent to Terok Nor as a
slave. He was among the eight Terrans who escaped in 2369. He became a
commander in the Rebellion, and served aboard the Trojan Horse.
Sheila Cogsworth
Born 2344, Terra. Sheila's father was in the Terran Resistance for years.
He and the whole family were captured in 2360. Her father was killed,
though she doesn't know what happened to the rest of her family. She
was sent right off to Terok Nor as a slave. In 2369, she was among 8
Terrans who escaped on the Houdini. She became a commander in the
Rebellion, and served aboard the Trojan Horse.
Rosha Tintun
Born 2348, Ok'rem'Tal. Rosha grew up as one of four close friends,
including his sister Arlissa, Sikleth Tubren, and a Vooworshii named
Jynar Linkoth, on a Karemma colony world. As teenagers they formed their
own little resistance group to fight the Dominion, and were soon captured.
They spent a year in prison before being rescued by a friend of Bengaal.
They were set up in the Rebel base on their world, and three years later
were transferred to Lator Base, in 2370. At that time they were promoted to
commanders, Rosha served on the Trojan Horse.
Tunan Arisia
Born 2346, Bajor. She was always against Bajor's part in the Alliance,
and in 2371 she decided to steal a ship and attack Terok Nor. But first
she thought she'd talk to some insiders. She met a Terran among Sisko's
crew, who told her of an escape 2 years earlier, which had resulted in
the death of a friend of his. He said 8 slaves had escaped, and no one
knew to where. Tunan set off to find them, and stumbled through the
wormhole. Her small ship was soon confronted by a patrolling Karemma
ship, but not before a cloaked Trojan Horse transported her
aboard without the Karemma ever knowing. She joined the crew of the
ship, and eventually became a commander.
Nicola Murganna
Born 2355, Tirosh. Murganna's father was a servant to Niroka, and was
present at the meetings in 2357 when the Rebellion was formed. Murganna
finally met Niroka in 2370, and asked him if she could be assigned to
a Rebel base on Tirosh. He didn't put her anywhere in the Rebellion
until two years later, and that was at Lator Base, where she met Tirosh
Oklan. They developed a relationship before long. Murganna served on
the Trojan Horse. She was promoted to commander in 2375.
Arlissa Tintun
Born 2350, Ok'rem'Tal. Arlissa was among a close group of friends
growing up, including her older brother Rosha, Sikleth Tubren, and
Jynar Linkoth, on the Karemma colony world of Ok'rem'Tal.
As teenagers they formed their own resistance group, and
were soon imprisoned. They spent a year in prison before being rescued
by a friend of Bengaal, who sent them to the Rebel base on Ok'rem'Tal.
3 years later they were promoted to commanders and transferred to Lator
Base, in 2370. She served on the Achilles' Heel.
David Svetkey
Born 2353, Terok Nor. Svetkey was born to Terran slaves. His best friend
growing up was a Cardassian named Tobin Zorel. They were both opposed
to the Alliance's occupation of Terra, but couldn't say anything, and
had to keep their friendship secret. In 2371, the Achilles' Heel
was scouting around Terok Nor, cloaked. Captain DeSabel met them and
offered them a certain degree of freedom, if they'd join the Rebellion.
They agreed, and both joined the crew of the Achilles' Heel. They
were promoted to commanders in 2375.
Tobin Zorel
Born 2353, Terok Nor. Zorel was born to Cardassian guards. His best
friend growing up was a Terran named David Svetkey. They were both
opposed to the Alliance's occupation of Terra, but couldn't say aything,
and had to keep their friendship a secret. In 2371, the Achilles'
Heel was scouting around Terok Nor, Cloaked. Captain DeSabel met
them and offered them a certain degree of freedom, if they'd join the
Rebellion. They agreed, and both joined the crew of the Achilles'
Heel. they were promoted to commanders in 2375.
Cara Vilvinouth
Born 2352, Vorta. In 2370, she joined Sil Base, on Vorta. But after
a while she decided she wanted a change, and she was transferred to
Lator Base in 2372. she served aboard the Achilles' Heel. She
was promoted to commander in 2375.
Rupert Hibberd
Born 2345, Terra. At age 20, he set up a restaurant on Earth. He soon
became well known, and widely considered the best chef on the planet.
He was a master of many alien cuisines, including Bajoran and Cardassian.
He was one of the few privileged Terrans, fairly free and well to do.
But then one day a local Cardassian overseer saw him on a talk show,
and had him kidnapped. Hibberd was sent to Terok Nor as a gift to
Intendant Kira, to be her personal chef. He had it better than most
slaves, but he was still a slave. In 2369, he was among the 8 Terran
escapees who started Lator Base. He became a commander in the Rebellion,
and served as part of the base staff, under Commander Thurbur. Of course
he was the base's chef, but he had other duties as well, as did
everone.
Sikleth Tubren
Born 2348, Ok'rem'Tal. Tubren grew up on the Karemma colony world of
Ok'rem'Tal, part of a group of four friends: Rosha and Arlissa Tintun,
and Jynar Linkoth. As teenagers the four of them formed their own
resistance group, and were soon captured. They spent a year in prison
before being rescued by a friend of Bengaal and sent to the Rebel base
on their world. 3 years later, in 2370, they were promoted to commanders
and transferred to Lator Base. Sikleth served as part of the base staff,
under Commander Thurbur.
Bril Inbin.
Born 2355, Dosi. Inbin was always a natural mechanic, and in 2374 he
joined the Dosi fleet. He did it just so he could sabotage missions.
But he was caught on his first attempt. Luckily, he was caught by a
friend of Bengaal. In 2375, he sent Inbin to Lator Base. He served as
a member of the base staff, under Commander Thurbur, as a mechanic,
among other things. He was promoted to commander in 2375.
Tirosh Oklan
Born 2358, Karemma. Tirosh was born the year after the formation of the
Rebellion. His parents were sympathetic to the cause, but never actually
joined themselves. The location of the meetings that saw the formation
of the Rebellion was not known officially, though many people heard
the rumors that it was somewhere on Tirosh. And so the Oklan's named
their son after the planet. They were very proud when he joined the
Rebellion, years later. He joined Lator Base in 2372. There he met
Nicola Murganna, who was from Tirosh. They started talking because of
this coincidence, and soon became friends. Before long, they were a
couple. Oklan served on the Houdini. When it was destroyed in
2375, he died along with General Dysan Lator.
Luciana Soe'Narr
Born 2351, Tind. Soe'Narr flew Grey Five, in Amick Tulann's Grey
Squadron of Tindan T-Wings. She, Tulann, and one other member of the
squadron were the
only rebels to escape Tind during a battle in 2375. The third survivor
was soon killed in another battle. Tulann and Soe'Narr joined Lator
Base for a brief time, before Tulann was promoted to general and
transferred to Republic headquarters on Tirosh. Soe'Narr was promoted
to commander, and went with him. She is currently in charge of puting
together a new Grey Squadron, though she will retain her old ship and
continue to refer to it as Grey Five.
