A modern, teenage spin on "Phantom of the Opera," sort of. A 17-year-old named Pete Riley is assistant manager at a megaplex movie theater. He and all the other employees are preparing for the premiere of a major new movie, where the director and stars will be in attendance, so it's a big event. But before that, Pete and the others have to get through a regular night of movies, and lots of things go wrong, including the fact that the senior manager, Shawn MacGibbon, goes missing a couple of times throughout the night. Meanwhile, Pete's mother, Julie (Corinne Bohrer) is out on a date with her boyfriend, George. And Pete's little sister, Karen (Caitlin Wachs) and little brother, Brian, have gone to see a movie at the megaplex. Karen tries to sneak out to see a different movie with her friends, and Brian starts wandering around, trying to help Pete with his problems. Brian is sure that everything going wrong has been caused by the "phantom of the megaplex", and wants to figure out who that really is. Also there's a girl named Caitlin, on whom Pete has a crush and has gotten tickets to the premiere event for her and a friend of hers. And there's a guy who is a jerk and who Caitlin might be more interested in. Also there's an old guy called Movie Mason (Mickey Rooney), who acts like he works at the theater because his family used to own the old theater that was in the same location, years ago. Shawn isn't really happy about having Mason around. And he's stressed out because the megaplex's owner, Mr. Nedermayer, is going to be there for the premiere, and wants everything to be perfect.

I guess that's all I want to say about the plot and characters. It's not a bad movie, but I also didn't find it particularly memorable.
