The Saturday morning cartoon served as a prequel to the movie of the same name. In the movie, this mermaid princess named Ariel was 16. In the series, she started out at age 14, is what I think I heard or read somewhere (though I think she looked pretty much the same as she did in the movie). Anyway, I guess I never saw all of this, but I saw a lot of it. And it was pretty decent. It was funny, it had some good music and stuff. Ariel's pretty cool, because she has this adventurous spirit; yes, always off on some adventure, much to the dismay of her father, King Triton. She had a fish friend named Flounder, and Sebastian was a crab who worked for her father and was supposed to look after her, but he couldn't stop her from getting into trouble all the time. And I don't really know what else to say... there's a seagull named Scuttle in the movie, with whom Ariel is friends, though she doesn't meet him til later in the series. There are various characters from the movie who do make appearances, as well as some completely new characters, of course. One of my favorites is the Lobster Mobster. And there's a villain called the Evil Manta. And an orphaned merman named Urchin, with whom Ariel becomes friends. Wish I could think of more to say, but... definitely a fun show.
