The Super Hero Squad Show, on Cartoon Network

This is the cartooniest cartoon I've seen in a long time, both because of the animation style and the writing, acting, everything. And that's rather a good thing. Kinda makes me feel like a kid again. The characters are all drawn in a sort of super-deformed style, and the personalities are all pretty much caricatures, the stories are dialog are all fairly silly, but it's a fun and amusing little show. Anyway, there are a bunch of Marvel characters, both heroes and villains, though I'm not familiar with all of them. There's the Super Hero Squad, which seems to be affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D., which provided them with a big flying base called the Helicarrier. The Squad is led by Iron Man, and other "Squaddies" include Falcon, Silver Surfer, Thor, Hulk, Wolverine, Captain America, and a few others. And there are different heroes who work directly for S.H.I.E.L.D. who seem to act as liasons with the Squad. In the first ep, the liason was Ms. Marvel, who is apparently the head of S.H.I.E.L.D., though I'm used to the head being Nick Fury. In the second ep, the liason was Hawkeye.

Anyway, the premise of the show is a pretty common plot concept I've seen in lots of animated series, where there are shards of some powerful object that there's a race to collect. In this case, there's something called the Infinity Sword, which would give its wielder incredible power. It apparently got fragmented into Infinity Fractals, during a battle between Iron Man and Dr. Doom. Now Doom has a bunch of henchmen who battle the Super Hero Squad as each side tries to find and obtain the Fractals (each of which can give the bearer great power, or possibly harm them in some way). His main henchmen are Abomination and Modok, but as with the heroes, any episode may have any number of other villains. The first season ends with a major battle against Galactus, and Silver Surfer must leave to once again become his herald.

At the start of the second season, Thanos finds the Infinity Gauntlet, and begins a search for the six Infinity Gems which can be placed in the gauntlet, each giving a different power. He also captures Captain Marvel, who was supposed to be attending a peace conference between the Kree and Skrull empires. Thanos expects this to plunge the two empires into war, which he wants to watch for his own amusement. Ms. Marvel uses a jump station to transport the Helicarrier across the galaxy to look for Captain Marvel (who is apparently her boyfriend). Also, Scarlet Witch, a former villain, will become a new member of the Squad, though Falcon hides her presence at first. Anyway, Thanos is obviously going to be the main villain this season. But meanwhile, Dr. Doom is trying to escape from prison. And... I guess I didn't see the whole season, because I lost access to Cartoon Network.
