Sabrina Down Under, on ABC
IMDb; TV Tropes; Wikia; Wikipedia
streaming sites: Hulu

This aired in 1999, between seasons 3 and 4 of Sabrina the Teenage Witch (or actually, a couple of days after the first episode of season 4). I'm pretty sure I didn't see it until 2022, when I watched it on Hulu, though at the time Hulu said the movie was expiring, so I guess there's not much point in my including a link to it. I've done so, anyway, just in case it ever comes back to Hulu, I guess. I'm not sure how much of the series I ever saw, like I have no idea whether I saw season 3 or not, but I think it's safe to say I didn't see season 4. Anyway, the movie aired on the Wonderful World of Disney, but it doesn't really seem to be a Disney movie, more of an ABC movie. It's a sequel to "Sabrina Goes to Rome", which aired a year earlier, and which I don't think I ever saw, either. I kind of wanted to wait until after seeing that before watching this, but I don't know of any way I could watch it, short of buying the entire season 7 DVD set of the series, which I don't currently plan on doing.

Sabrina takes a vacation on the Great Barrier Reef, in Australia. There she reunites with her friend Gwen (Tara Charendoff), a British witch who was introduced in "Sabrina Goes to Rome". She also meets a marine biologist named Dr. Julian Martin, who had written a book Sabrina admired. Gwen meets a boy named Jerome, whom she kind of dates while in Australia, I guess. He's of very little importance. Gwen is also the first to meet a merman named Barnaby, but he later spends most of his time with Sabrina, after she casts a spell that gives him legs for a couple of days. Meanwhile, Salem has also independently come to the same resort as Sabrina and Gwen, which they don't find out about for awhile. He meets a witch-turned-cat named Hilary, whom he pursues romantically. Anyway... there's apparently some company dumping toxic waste into the ocean, which has been hurting marine life, including Barnaby and his sister, Fin. Sabrina tries to help them, but ends up putting them in danger when Dr. Martin learns of their existence.

I guess that's all I feel the need to say about the plot. It's not a great story, nearly as cheesy as the series but with less humor, magic, and charm. Still, I enjoyed at least parts of it, at least a bit.
