Annabeth Chase (Jennifer Finnigan) is a prosecutor returning to work after maternity leave. She has to pursue cases involving crimes committed by suburbanites who seem like decent, normal people, but who are really anything but. We see a bit of Annabeth's home life, with her husband Jack and their new baby; but mostly the show is about her work. Her new boss, Maureen Scofield, got a promotion Annabeth had been expecting to get herself before her leave. They both report to Steve Sharpe (I'm not actually sure if he's like the D.A. or what). In any event, we see much more of Annabeth working on discovery and building her cases, along with police investigators, mainly Detective Lou Drummer (Barry Shabaka Henley), than of her actually trying cases in court; though there's enough of that, too. Not really sure what else to say, except that the cases are usually fairly interesting, and tend to have twists.... However, I don't think I ever actually watched the second season. Oh well....
