Max Glick, on CBC (Canada)
IMDb; Wikipedia
This series was a follow-up to the movie The Outside Chance of Maximilian Glick, though most of the characters were recast. The show ran for two seasons, from 1990-91 (set in 1963-64). It was about this Jewish teenager growing up in a small town called Beausejour, in Manitoba. He lived with his parents, Sarah (Linda Kash) and Henry, and grandparents, Augustus and Bryna (Jan and Susan Rubes, reprising their roles from the movie). There was a cute girl named Celia Brjynski, with whom Max played piano, as well as having a potential romantic relationship. Of course, some problems arose because of the difference in religion (she was Catholic). Other characters included Rabbi Teitelman, Zelig Peikes (Howard Jerome, reprising his role from the movie), Celia's parents, and at least a few of Max's friends, including one named Dougie. I don't remember the show well, though I do have a few episodes on tape. I'd love to see the whole series again someday. It was fairly amusing, and occasionally had a decent historical perspective. And stuff. I don't really know what else to say, except that I really liked the second season's theme song.
