This is a 2020s remake of the 1980s series of the same name. It's told from the perspective of a 12-year-old Black boy in the late 1960s, named Dean Williams. Like the original series, it's narrated from the present by Dean as an adult (Don Cheadle). Dean's family includes his father, a jazz musician and music professor named Bill (Dulé Hill); his mother, an accounting executive named Lillian; his older sister, Kim; and his older brother, Bruce, who we don't see for most of the season, because he was serving in the Vietnam War. Dean has a romantic interest in a girl named Keisa, but she just sees him as a friend. And for now, that's all I can think to say.
