A Claymation Easter, on CBS

Caution: spoilers.
So, this special, made by Will Vinton, first aired in 1992, but I didn't see it. I don't recall even being aware of its existence until it was released on a DVD that also contained Vinton's Claymation Christmas Celebration and a Halloween special. (Unlike the Christmas special, the title screen on this special includes the word "A," but websites generally don't include it in the title. Go figure.) Anyway, I was aware of the DVD's existence for at least a few years before I finally got it as a Christmas gift in 2015, at which time I re-watched the Christmas special for the first time in many years. And I planned to watch the Easter special on Easter 2016, but then I forgot about it. And suddenly remembered it on a Saturday night, two weeks after Easter. I really didn't want to wait another whole year to watch it, and besides... it was April 9 when I remembered it, and Easter often doesn't fall until later than that, anyway. (In fact, the year this aired, Easter was April 19.) So I figured I might as well watch it this year, even if I am sort of late. (I waited til the day after I thought of it, though, because I thought it would be best to watch an Easter special on a Sunday, even if it was the wrong Sunday.)
So... there's this pig named Wilshire, who is apparently an inventor. At the start of the special, he's testing his latest invention, a diving suit that's supposed to be shark-proof. He has another pig wear the suit, while hanging over a wading pool with a shark in it. The shark eats the pig whole, so I guess the invention is a failure. Wilshire is upset about that, because he really needs one of his inventions to make him enough money to move out of the dump where he lives. (His electric bill is over a million dollars, and way past due.)
Then he listens to a talk radio show, in which the host, Dr. Spike Rabbit (Jim Cummings), is interviewing the Easter Bunny. It turns out that E.B. is frequently offered endorsement deals worth millions of dollars, but he always turns them down. This inspires Wilshire to kidnap the Eater Bunny, in the hopes of replacing him, so he can cash in. Once E.B. goes missing, there's going to be a race (actually a series of events) to determine who will become the new Easter Bunny. Wilshire dresses in a bunny costume, and goes to talk to Spike (who is apparently a real doctor, as well as a radio host, though I'm not sure what kind of doctor, whether physical or psychological). Wilshire claims he sees himself as a rabbit trapped in a pig's body (an obvious play on transgender issues which probably would have seemed offensive to fewer people in the early 90s than it would now). Anyway, Spike starts training Wilshire in the ways of being a rabbit, though it doesn't go so well for him. And eventually, Spike finds out that Wilshire had kidnapped the real Easter Bunny, so Wilshire imprisons Spike, as well. Later, while Wilshire goes to take part in the race, Spike and E.B. end up in the belly of the shark, along with the pig who had been testing the shark-proof suit.
Beyond that, I don't want to reveal any more details of the plot, except to say that there is a happy ending. But I will say that for much of the early part of the special, I felt kind of "meh" about it all. It wasn't terrible, but I didn't like it much. There may have been a few mildly amusing touches, but... whatevs. However, later in the special, particularly once the competition began, there were a lot more bits that I found a lot funnier. So in the end, I was happy to have seen it, even if on the whole I still don't find it particularly memorable. It was definitely worth watching once.
