2012 Summer Olympics (July 27 - August 12)
BBC; London 2012 (archived); NBC; Olympic.org; Wikipedia

Held in London, England. Traditionally, for me, the Olympics are something I look forward to more than I actually enjoy watching. This began with Seoul, which I'd looked forward to for seven years, since reading about it in first grade, as I mentioned. I'm sure I looked forward to Nagano in 1998, just because I like Japan in general. I looked forward to Sydney in 2000, probably, because I remember being aware of it for some years before it happened. The next few Olympics I don't think I looked forward to much at all, considering I can barely remember the host cities being associated with the games, and then only because Wikipedia reminds me. Beijing in 2008 I'm not so sure about, nor Vancouver in 2010.

But London. Oh, man, London. That one I looked forward to. And if you know anything about me at all, you can probably guess why. That's right, it's because of a 2006 episode of Doctor Who. Anyway, I vaguely remember enjoying the opening ceremony (which was directed by Danny Boyle). Probably not as much as I enjoyed the Beijing opening ceremony, but... it was interesting. As for the games themselves... I'm not sure how much of them I watched. I see Michael Phelps once again mentioned, and Ryan Lochte. I dunno what else to say.
