Held in Albertville, France. Looking at Wikipedia's list of highlights, I once again see the name Alberto Tomba. Other familiar names include Kristi Yamaguchi, of whom I became a fan. And Bonnie Blair. And Viktor Petrenko. Probably some other names are vaguely familiar, which I'd be even less likely to have ever thought of again.

1992 Summer Olympics (July 25 - August 9)

Held in Barcelona, Spain. This year featured the U.S's Dream Team competing in basketball. It was made up of professional NBA players, which I think was somewhat controversial at the time. I'm sure there were other people competing in the Olympics this year whose names were familiar to me at the time, but I wouldn't find particularly familiar now.
