Demons, on ITV (UK) / BBC America (USA)
IMDb; TV Tropes; Wikia; Wikipedia
streaming sites: Hulu

Okay. So there's this British teenager named Luke Rutherford, who one day meets this strange American guy named Rupert Galvin. It turns out Galvin is his godfather, and was a close friend of his father (whom Luke never knew, I guess, because he died a long time ago). Anyway, Galvin informs Luke that he's actually a descendant of Abraham Van Helsing (he says Bram Stoker stole the name for his book). Apparently, Van Helsing was real, even if the fictional version wasn't quite like the reality... but he was a demon hunter, as is Galvin, and as was Luke's father. And because of his bloodline, it is now Luke's destiny to become a demon hunter, himself. Or, you know, whatever... there are lots of kinds of inhuman monsters, which Galvin says they don't give names to, like "vampire" or "werewolf" or anything like that. They're all just called "half-lives."

Anyway. So Luke has to start training, which worries his mother, who sees him becoming more like his father, even if she didn't know what he really did or how he really died. Meanwhile, Luke tries to maintain some semblance of a normal life, which mainly includes his friend Ruby, who often gets involved in whatever mission Luke's on. Also included on the team is Mina Harker, a blind psychic woman who I gather isn't exactly human, herself. Anyway, so the first season is just six episodes, and I guess there won't be a second season. It was okay, but... not great. Not sure what else to say.
