Dora the Explorer, on CollegeHumor

In 2012, Ariel Winter played a live-action (and decidedly more grown-up) version of Dora, in a CollegeHumor.com fake action movie trailer parody of the animated kids' show Dora the Explorer. It was so awesome that in 2013, they actually made a 3-part miniseries. And it's all hilarious.

movie trailer (2:17)
IMDb

The original trailer is for a nonexistent movie called "The Search for the Infinity Orb." What's awesome about it is how it mixes the kinds of scenes and dialog you see in real action movies with the kinds of dialog you hear in the kids' show. So it's just really funny to see Dora alternate between being a foul-mouthed, sarcastic, bad-ass action heroine and... you know, a kid-friendly educational type character. The latter of which is funny because it's so inappropriate, in the midst of incredibly dangerous action movie scenarios. And because asides to the audience just don't make sense, in this context. Oh yeah, and Dora's cousin Diego makes an appearance. (While Winter was 14 when she made this, the actor playing Diego was around his late 20s.) And some anthropomorphic characters from the animated series, like Swiper the fox, are actually humans, here (though the backpack is still a backpack and the monkey is still a monkey). Anyway, I dunno what else to tell you, it's just awesome, that's all.

miniseries trailer (0:50)

This is just 50 seconds long, and part of it is reused from the fake trailer. But it's still really funny, and worth watching before you watch the miniseries that it's a real trailer for. C'mon, what's 50 seconds of your life? (Plus a short ad for something else before the trailer loads?)

Dora the Explorer and the Destiny Medallion (10:30)
IMDb: part 1; part 2; part 3; TV Tropes
YouTube: part 1; part 2; part 3

This is an actual miniseries, not the movie that was being promoted in the original fake trailer. That movie still doesn't exist, unfortunately. But this is just as much fun as that would have been, I'm sure. It begins in Bogota, Colombia. Diego finds Dora in a bar, and asks her to come out of retirement, to help him find the Destiny Medallion. He tells her that Swiper is in league with the Iranians, and they've already obtained half of the medallion. Diego wants to make sure the bad guys don't get the other half, because I guess it would give them the power to rule the world. So, Dora and Diego's quest takes them to Africa, where they are guided by a guy called Benny the Bull. But they soon get captured by Swiper and the Iranians, who were planning all along on using Dora to find the medallion for them. Of course, Dora wins in the end, but I don't want to say anything more specific about the plot. It's just awesome and hilarious and stuff. (I've said that before, haven't I?) Anyway... adios, amigos.
