So there's this record company, Wax Town Records, owned by a Muppet named Penny Waxman. The company is on the verge of dying, when one of Penny's employees, Nora (Lilly Singh), learns that the Muppet band Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem had signed a contract (and been paid) decades ago to record an album, but never delivered. So Nora sets out to get the record made. There are any number of obstacles along the way, but meanwhile she becomes part of the Mayhem's family, as does the band's biggest fan, Moog (Tahj Mowry), who produces the album for the band. He also develops romantic feelings for Nora, but she eventually reunites with her ex-boyfriend, a music executive named J.J., who also tries to help the Mayhem. And Dr. Teeth reunites with his old flame, Penny. The band is also befriended by Nora's social media influencer, Hannah (Saara Chaudry, whom I knew from Holly Hobbie).
Anyway, lots of stuff happens throughout the ten episode season, but I don't feel the need to go into specifics. I'll just say I thought it was a fun and amusing show. (And I'm tempted to list it under "quirky" instead of "comedy", but I guess I'll stick with comedy.) It ends with a hook for a second season with the band going on tour, but unfortunately the series was cancelled after one season. Oh, I should also say the show had lots of celebrity guest stars, many of whom played themselves. And of course, there's plenty of music throughout the series. And we get to know all the band members fairly well. I reckon people always knew a few of them well enough, like Dr. Teeth, Animal, and Janice. But I feel like Floyd, Zoot, and Lips weren't as well known before this.
