Dread: "King of the Streets" (12:37)

When I first watched this, it was called "Respect or Fear," but the title was later changed, apparently to better fit in with the Crypt Monster Universe.
Two brothers are preparing to leave town, after the death of their father, a gang leader who had passed control of the gang to his older son. But he doesn't want any part of the gang life for himself or his brother. Unfortunately, before they can leave, they witness a rival gang killing someone, and the gang doesn't want to leave any witnesses alive. The leader of the gang has a key that lets her control a monster called Dread, who soon kills the older brother. Dread and the human gangsters then start chasing down the younger brother. However, he finds a way to turn the tables (which I predicted, but it was still cool). The short isn't scary as much as it is sort of philosophical; as the title suggests, it's a question of whether it's better to be respected or feared. And I liked the way that played out, in this context.
