The Girl in the Woods (17:00)
Crypt TV Wiki; IMDb; YouTube

This came out in April 2020. It's a sequel to the 2018 short film The Door in the Woods. There was a fair amount of hype built up around it, in the weeks leading to its release. Crypt TV even made a prep playlist of things you should watch before watching this. But I decided not to watch that; because I was already so far behind on the Crypt Monster Universe, I decided to catch up on everything. I finally finished catching up in October, and watched this a few days before Halloween. I'm afraid I was rather disappointed by it. It's not bad, but I just think there's not nearly enough story there. Maybe someday there'll be another installment in the series, though. I certainly hope so.

Anyway, it flashes back and forth between shortly after the original film, when Carrie was 13 (and had lost an arm to the Brute before trapping him back behind the Door), and seven years later, when she's 20 (played by an actress named Peyton List, but not the Peyton List with whom I'm familiar from other things). In the past, she met a man called A.D. (Kal Penn), who trained her to fight monsters, and made her a prosthetic arm, which has a spike made out of a torment fragment (as seen in Camp Monster), which will protect her from monsters. In the present, Carrie is still guarding the door, trying to keep any more monsters from coming through it... though she does occasionally have to fight some kind of monsters. And I don't really want to say more than that, because there are really only a couple other things to say, which would be spoilers. But if there ever is another episode in the series, then I suppose I'll have to reveal how this film ends.
