Water's Edge: "Woe Bones" (20:38)

It begins with a man being tortured by a brother and sister who believe he's hiding a monster that killed their brother. The story then flashes back one week. The man and his young daughter, Lexi, arrive at a house in the woods where they're moving to try and get over the loss of Lexi's mother. Lexi goes out to wander around, and ends up hearing her mother's voice, and seeing her reflection in a stream, next to Lexi's own reflection. Meanwhile, the brother and sister who were/will be doing the torturing are out hunting with their brother, who tells them stories about creatures called "Woe Bones," which live in those woods and eat people. And it turns out that Lexi has been turned into a Woe Bone (Bones?) herself, and she ends up killing the brother. But not before her father had realized who she was, despite looking like a monster now, so of course he tries to protect her. And then we return to the present, after Lexi's father has been beaten nearly to death, and now Lexi is hunting the two who did it.

I don't want to say how the story ends, but the story is, I would say, equal parts tragedy and horror. And afterwards, there's a bonus scene that connects this short to an earlier Crypt TV short, The Door in the Woods. And this will all lead up to something more, in a future film....
