Disenchanted (PG), on Disney+

This is the sequel to Enchanted. It starts with a recap of the first film, via Pip the chipmunk reading a story to his two children, in Andalasia. When they ask him to read it again, he instead tells them that that wasn't the end of the story, and begins reading them a new one they've never heard before. Then we get into the movie proper, in which Giselle, Robert, and Morgan move from Manhattan to a suburb called Monroeville, along with Giselle and Robert's baby, Sofia. Morgan, now 16, is unhappy about this move, and Robert isn't happy about having to commute to work every day. Then King Edward and Queen Nancy visit from Andalasia, having established a portal between worlds via a well outside Giselle's new home. They are Sofia's godparents, and give her a wish-granting wand, which of course she's too young to use herself, at this point. Meanwhile, Giselle meets Monroeville's queen bee, Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph), and her two lackeys, Rosaleen (Yvette Nicole Brown) and Ruby (Jayma Mays). Giselle is eager to get involved in the community, which includes an upcoming festival. But after some disappointments with her new life, she uses Sofia's wand to wish she and her family had a fairy-tale life.

The next morning when she wakes up, Monroeville has been transformed into Monrolasia, and Malvina is its literal queen. Everyone in town has been transformed into fairy tale versions of themselves, with no memories of what life had been like before the wish. What's more, Giselle, being Morgan's stepmother, starts turning wicked. She wants to stop that by undoing the wish, but Malvina sent Rosaleen and Ruby to steal the wand. Also, Pip transforms into an evil cat, whom Giselle sends to steal back the wand. Giselle and Malvina have a magical battle during the festival. And in one of her moments as her good self, Giselle sends Morgan to Andalasia to find a way to undo the wish. Um, I guess that was before she got the wand back, but even once she did, she didn't want to change things back because her transformation into a wicked stepmother was almost complete by then. Yeah, I think I'm getting things a bit out of order, and I'm leaving out tons of details. Like there's a magic scroll (voiced by Alan Tudyk) that came with the wand, like a talking instruction manual. Also, Malvina's son, Tyson, becomes a potential love interest for Morgan, but he's a pretty minor character.

Anyway... of course the wish is eventually undone, and things return to normal. Only Giselle and Morgan remember what had happened in Monrolasia, at least as reality; everyone else just thinks it was a dream. And... everyone lives happily ever after, I guess. Well, it wasn't nearly as good as the first movie, but it was kind of fun.
